Scripture: John 8:32 – “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Gaslighting is a manipulative tactic that makes you question your reality, your memory, and even your sanity. What is it? It’s when someone deliberately twists facts to make you doubt yourself, creating confusion and dependency. Many men face this silently, especially in relationships where their confidence and decision-making ability are constantly undermined. If you’ve ever felt like you’re always wrong even when the facts prove you right, that’s gaslighting at work.
How do you break free? By embracing God’s truth. Jesus said in John 8:32 that knowing the truth sets you free. The Word of God becomes your compass when people try to rewrite your reality. Surround yourself with wise counsel, men of faith who speak truth, and do not isolate yourself—because isolation is the gaslighter’s weapon. Feed your mind with scripture daily, affirm your identity in Christ, and boldly confront lies with facts spoken in love. Truth is not passive; it’s active resistance to manipulation.
Why is this important? Because confusion leads to bondage. Gaslighting doesn’t just affect your emotions; it damages your purpose, steals your peace, and destroys your confidence to lead as a man. When you believe lies long enough, you stop leading and start doubting God’s assignment for you. God has not given you the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). A sound mind is your heritage in Christ—don’t trade it for emotional captivity.
Who should you turn to and when? First, run to God—He is the source of truth. Then seek trusted brothers in Christ who can reaffirm God’s Word in your life. Don’t wait until you’re broken beyond recognition. The right time to confront lies is the moment you notice patterns of manipulation. Where does freedom start? In your mind. When you align your thoughts with God’s truth, no one can rewrite your reality. Declare daily: I know the truth, and the truth makes me free.
